Overcoming Obesity

Obesity is an increasing problem in today’s society. People are becoming less active due to many new thriving sedentary activities such as television, video games, and computer programs. We also have access to so many fast food options that may be the farthest thing from real food.

Obese individuals are in danger of developing serious health ailments, cardiovascular disease, which consists of high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

There are many heath concerns to be aware of if you’re carrying excess fat. High blood pressure, High cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes, Bone and joint problems, Asthma, Sleep problems such as Insomnia, Liver and gallbladder disease, Unhealthy eating habits, including eating disorders, and Substance abuse problems.
Obesity can result in more than only physical problem. If you are overweight you may also suffer from higher rates of depression and emotional distress. Being overweight can affect your self-esteem, causing loneliness, sadness and nervousness making you more likely to being socially isolated. Depression can also increase due to lack of exercise. During physical activity your brain delivers feel-good chemicals which helps relieve depression, and your body temperature rises making you feel relaxed.
Overcoming obesity can become a big challenge and one that can at times feel hopeless. But with God all things are possible. If there are emotional reasons linked to your struggle of being overweight seek out Christian counseling whether a pastor or someone in your church and be honest with them and yourself. 

There are several ways you can find help to start on a new journey to freedom. Find a nutritionist that can help plan out a nutritional and rightly proportioned meal plan, begin, a regular exercise regimen that not only helps you lose weight but will also help you feel better. Ask a friend to pray for you to overcome what you’re going through and keep you accountable. And most of all there is no need to be ashamed we all have our struggles and temptations that stare each of us in the face every day but God always allows us to have a way of escape. And remember you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
